Mr. Casey About Me

About Me

It has been a pleasure to teach sixth-grade math at Wilson Middle School and being a part of the Natick community since 2009. I received a BA in Elementary Education and Middle School Mathematics and a MA in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology from Boston College. Additionally, I hold a principal/vice principal license.

I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, and I enjoy all things Buffalo, including buffalo wings, snow, and its sports teams.  Go Bills and Sabres!  I have lived in Boston since attending Boston College, but I spend summers in Buffalo with family and friends. I enjoy all sports, especially baseball, volleyball,  golf, and my dog Wicket. I was involved with Natick Baseball as coach of the JV team for a number of years. I currently coach the girls' and boys' volleyball teams at Wilson.

I enjoy math for the satisfaction of solving a problem correctly, but I wasn't always good at it. While in elementary school, I struggled to memorize multiplication and division facts, and I became frustrated after solving problems incorrectly. In sixth grade, I started working harder to memorize all my math facts, and soon it began to "click." I enjoy working through problems until they are correct, even if there are mistakes along the way. I believe this is why I enjoy math, and why I am driven to teach students to enjoy math too.

The coursework and practicum experience I have had working with administration at Wilson has given me a different perspective on the world of education, and it has helped improve my own teaching. I am constantly seeking to apply the lessons learned from my education leadership classes to my classroom.

It has been a privilege to teach and be a part of Natick, and I have enjoyed meeting many wonderful students and their families along the way. I look forward to working with all of you during the school year.
