5th Grade Theatre
Theatre begins with ensemble: a group of people coming together to create performance. Using a variety of theatre games and exercises, students will build ensemble and community in the classroom. In this introductory course students learn the basics of theatre architecture, parts of the stage and other relevant vocabulary. We take an in depth look at storytelling and story dramatization. Students also explore tableau, narrative pantomime and playwriting.
By the end of 5th Grade Theatre students will be able to do the following:
Read a script and translate written cues into physical action
Utilize proper theatrical form when writing theatrical work
Read, watch and respond to pieces of theatre critically
Give and receive direction
