Participation Letter

Dear Families, Actors and Crew

One of the most important aspects of a production is the ensemble created by each of the performers.  It is necessary that each member of the cast attend rehearsals they are scheduled for in order to accomplish the goal of creating a memorable and successful show.

ATTENDANCE

As of the date of casting, each student will receive a rehearsal calendar.  It is expected that performers attend all rehearsals. Absence at two or more rehearsals will result in a reassignment of lines or parts.  Of course there are emergency situations that arise, and cannot be avoided.  The directors will handle these cases on an individual basis.

Performances are the weekend of November 17th and 18th at 7:00pm and November 19th at 2:00pm  (cast and crew called one hour before the show)

Tech week are mandatory rehearsals from 5:30-8:30 November 13th-16th.

REHEARSAL EXPECTATIONS

1)    Be on time, and stay till the end of rehearsal

Rehearsals will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:10-4:00pm

Whenever possible students will be alerted to the scenes that are being worked on for a given day.  If you are not called to a rehearsal, or it is noted that you will be out in time for the late bus, students do not have to remain till the ending time.

Two or more unexcused absences* will result in a conversation with the director.

*An unexcused absence is defined as an absence wherein the directing team does not know where you are (i.e. has not received prior notice, in writing, of your absence.) Please note that absences from school are excused.

2)    Be prepared and present at all times

Cast members should have their script, a pencil and highlighter for each rehearsal.  As the process is underway there will be expectations for memorizing  staging and lines.  It is expected that cast members will meet these deadlines.

During rehearsal, cast members will be focused on the task of rehearsing.  They should be available for their assigned scenes, and not distracted by social issues or other activities.

We ask that cell phones be used only on an emergency contact basis, and should be silenced and left in backpacks during rehearsal.

We will make a time and space for snacks.  Food should be kept out of the auditorium, and gum is never allowed in the auditorium during rehearsals.

3)    Commit to excellence

Throughout the process cast members will put forth a consistent efforts to create the best possible performance.  By using every rehearsal as a time to learn parts, create character, and build ensemble the cast will achieve great success.

CASTING

I am committed to casting the best possible performer for every part in the show. I strive to put each student in a role where they will be successful and challenged. The audition is a chance to showcase both your acting abilities and your capacity to work as a member of a team. I take into consideration past work experience and rehearsal availability when making decisions.

Once the cast list has been finalized and announced, each cast member will be asked to initial the cast sheet accepting their role in the production, and therefore agreeing to the rehearsal and production expectations.

Questions or concerns about casting should be addressed, by the student, with Mr. Lane prior to accepting a role in the production.

Thank you,
