Team Awesome Schedule 2023-24
Grading in Math:
Assessments (60%)
Assessments require students to apply what they have learned in class. Tests and quizzes will include multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions, and word problems. Students are expected to show their work in math to earn partial credit. Even if they get a question wrong, if some of their work is correct they will earn partial credit. Assessments will also include but are not limited to writing, projects, and presentations.
Retake policies:
Any student who scores below 70% on a test is eligible to either complete reflections and corrections (quizzes) or re-assess/retake (tests). Corrections and retakes must occur within one school week of the original assessment return.
No retakes for quizzes, but corrections are an option in addition to conferencing with the teacher.
The maximum score to earn with corrections is 70%.
Students will be able to earn ½ points back per corrected problem.
For example, a student who lost 2 points on the original 4-point question is eligible to earn 1 point back for an accurate correction.
Retakes for tests or projects (summative assessments).
The maximum score to earn for the retake is 70%.
Students will first need to complete reflections and corrections and conference with the teacher. However, they will not earn credit for the original test. Then, students may complete a retake version of the original test.
Accelerated: 2 retakes first trimester, 1 retake 2nd trimester, 3rd trimester 1 retake
Classwork (20%)
Classwork includes assignments given and completed in the classroom. If more time is needed, these may need to be completed at home.
Homework (20%)
Homework is extremely important for academic success. In order for students to be prepared for the daily lessons and classwork, it is required that they complete all homework assignments. Parents can help by checking in often with students about their homework and classwork. Homework assignments for the team are posted both in the classroom and on the homework calendar linked on the Team Landing Page and also in the Google Classroom. Students should plan on working for about 30 minutes each day on math work.
