Presentation
As part of the Green Pulse Project, we presented a slideshow to students that explored the connection between environmental conditions and public health. The presentation covered key topics such as environmental justice, pollution, soil contamination, and food access, highlighting how low-income and BIPOC communities often face greater environmental health risks. Using clear visuals and local examples like Pittsburgh’s lead contamination, the slides helped students understand how environmental issues affect human health and emphasized the importance of equitable access to clean air, water, and nutritious food.
In Class Note Sheet
During our Green Pulse Project session, we provided students with a guided, fill-in-the-blank notes worksheet designed to make the learning experience more engaging and memorable. These notes were shared ahead of time through Google Docs, so students could either follow along on their devices or print them out.
As we progressed through the presentation, students filled in the blanks in real time using the content we discussed. This interactive format encouraged active participation and helped reinforce key ideas about the deep connection between environmental change and human health.
By the end of the session, each student had a personalized set of notes summarizing everything they learned and a resource they can revisit to continue thinking critically about how the environment directly impacts our well-being.
