Nashoba Brooks is a true learning community where every member is dedicated to that life-long journey of learning and growing. We are incredibly proud of the work we do, and we are never complacent. Our teachers are highly trained in the science and art of child development and inspired education. We are thrilled that our new extension program will be powered by the creativity and experience of former and current Nashoba Brooks teachers -- they are excited to meet you!
If you have a child who may be struggling to learn to read, Leta can offer you a program to ensure his or her success so that they can begin to use reading both for discovery and pleasure. Over the past forty years, Leta has worked as a reading specialist with elementary age children in a variety of settings, most recently at Nashoba Brooks School. Prior to that, Leta worked at the Carroll School, The Institute for Learning and Development, and also ran her own private practice. Early on in her work Leta recognized that there is not one approach that fits the need of each student, so she is trained in a number of different methods, including Orton Gillingham, Project Read and Lindamood-bell. Over the years Leta has developed a bottom up, multi-sensory approach that ensures that each student can experience success as a reader.

She previously taught at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School in Cambridge, New Canaan Country School in Connecticut, and in Japan.
John is a tutor with over 20 years of experience. He has had the pleasure of working with Nashoba Brooks students and alumni as a private tutor. While his main focus is on middle and high school, he works with elementary school, college and graduate students. He helps students with academic support, standardized test prep, as well as executive functioning, organization, study skills, and self-advocacy. He lives in Groton with his wife, two daughters (a 7th grader at Carroll and a sophomore at Lawrence Academy), two dogs and two cats. In his free time he enjoys coaching soccer and working in the yard.
