Nashoba Brooks ConneX starts in January! Interested?
We offer a multitude of enrichment programs from reading and math to organization, designed by excellent educators for students in grades K-8 and beyond. Find more information about each course below. If you have questions, please contact Yully Cha.
Welcome to reading success! Over the course of these sessions the children will be engaged in a range of hands-on activities that will strengthen their reading skills. I will be using a phonics based approach that teaches the connection between letters and their sounds so that the children can decode words with fluency. They will quickly move on to applying their decoding skills to reading sentences and stories. The goal of this program is to empower children with the concepts and tools so that they can experience success as readers and use reading for discovery and pleasure.
Reading for Discovery and Pleasure is designed for early elementary students. Sessions will be held twice a week for 45 minutes each. January session will be three weeks:
Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00-4:45 (Kindergarten-grade 1)
Saturdays 10:00-11:00 a.m. (Pre-Kindergarten)
Taught By - Leta Kniffin
Explore the intersection of math and art with us this winter. During each hour-long session, we will introduce a different math-based art project (such as tessellations, spirolaterals, area and perimeter designs, and geometric solids) while exposing students to various artists whose work illustrates the art of math - all puns intended! An art kit will be sent to each enrolled student ahead of time. Some of the materials will include a sketchbook, graph paper, compass, protractor, ruler, cardstock, colored pencils, scissors, tape, and a Sharpie.
January session will be three weeks:
Tuesdays 1:00-2:00 (grades 2-5)
Wednesdays 4:00-5:00 (grades 1-3)
Taught By - Emily Whitledge or Laura Lande

Do you come home with a backpack filled with crumpled up papers, or a disheveled binder? Do you feel overwhelmed with the idea of starting homework? Or does it feel like it takes you all night? Not sure how to fit in the time to study or to work on projects and papers? Attending this workshop, you will learn some strategies to help you with organization, to manage your time around homework and to practice study skills. Within this workshop you will receive coaching and guidance from the facilitator and support from fellow classmates.
Some activities that we may do to help you with these skills are:
Backpack Dump/Binder Clean outs: let's dump it all out and start to clean out what's not needed.
Create your own after school schedule and tweak it to fit your needs.
Practice effective ways to study with peers and by yourself.
