Students need a minimum of 110 Credits to Graduate
Credits are points that are assigned to a course
Credits are earned when a student successfully completes a course
½ year (semester) courses = 2.5 credits
Full year courses = 5 credits
P.E. = 1.25 credits
English - 4 Years = 20 credits
Math - 4 Years = 20 credits
History - 4 Years = 20 credits
Science - 3 Years = 15 credits
World Language - 2 Years = 10 credits
Wellness 1 and 2 - ½ year each = 5 credits
PE - 1 semester per year = 5 credits
Music/Art - 2 semesters total = 5 credits
Computer Science - 1 semester = 2.5 credits
Personal Finance - 1 semester = 2.5 credits
Electives at minimum students need to pass 5 credits in addition to those listed above
Requirements for MCAS as specified by the state
Students who elect courses at this level are expected to:
Demonstrate above-average skills and achievement in the chosen discipline (with a recommended 85 or above in previous Honors courses or recommendation of teacher)
Commit to substantial time spent on out-of-class assignments and projects that may include reading (approximately 30 pages in a night), writing (up to two compositions per week), and research (up to one project per term).
Students who elect courses at this level are expected to:
Demonstrate above-average skills and achievement in the chosen discipline (with a recommended 80 or above in previous Level One courses or recommendation of teacher)
Complete approximately one hour of home assignments per night that may include reading (approximately 25 pages in a night), writing (up to two compositions per week), and research (one project each semester).
Students who elect courses at this level are expected to:
Demonstrate average skills and achievement in the chosen discipline (with a recommended 70 or above in previous Level Two courses or recommendation of teacher)
Complete approximately 30 minutes of home assignments per night that may include reading (approximately 15 pages in a night), writing (one composition per week), and research (one project each semester).
