4th Grade Art
What will your child learn in art this year?
In art, students will explore the artistic process by developing craft (art tools, art materials, and art practices), engaging and persisting, envisioning, expressing, observing, reflecting, stretching and exploring, and understanding art worlds.
Fourth grade students will explore and use the following materials: acrylic and watercolor paints, markers, pens, pencils, pastels, charcoal, chalk, earthenware clay, glazes, and printmaking materials.
Fourth grade students will explore and demonstrate the following techniques/styles: self-portraiture, abstract design, observational drawing, perspective drawing, printmaking, collage, ceramic building (pinching, coil, slab, hand-building)
How will your child be assessed in art this year?
Students will receive a grade of Satisfactory (S) or Unsatisfactory (U) at the end of each trimester. Additionally, students complete a self-assessment or exit ticket at the end of each project to help reflect on what they have learned.
When is the artshow?
The artshow at the Intermediate building is part of an event called "Eagles Inspired". This event typically takes place in March and includes the artshow, makers opportunities (i.e. collaborative artmaking, legacy projects) and musical "informances". More details will be provided later in the year.
