If I were to summarize my goal for an English classroom, it would be the long-term flourishing of my students. In other words, I do all in my power to get to know my students and create an environment that not only sharpens their verbal and writing skills according to NYS standards, but also fosters their sense of empathy, their willingness to become active members of a supportive and diverse community, and their confidence in the power of their unique authorial voices. Continuing what I learned in the Master’s of English Program at the University of Rochester, I am thoroughly invested in teaching my students how to be critical thinkers and understand how to be effective and thoughtful communicators.
