Canvas is our primary communication tool. It’s the district’s classroom management system with the ability to upload files, post announcements, create discussions, submit assignments, etc.
The link above shows the homework for each subject area. This slide deck is projected during Supervised Study so that students have a collection of all classwork/homework assigned for each class. However, for details and lesson materials, students should go to the daily slide for each class.
Every day, teachers post the target, agenda, and homework for the day. Most materials are located on Canvas for a particular lesson. This system is especially useful if a child is absent due to illness or to performance music small group lessons.
Students have their own access to Canvas; parents do not. If parent(s) would like access to Canvas, please access the observer directions located below.
Infinite Campus is the online gradebook.
Parent(s) and students all have their own unique accounts. If you do not have access, you need to contact the district in order to get their account. Parent(s) need their own account in order to register for conferences:

Supervised Study
Students are responsible for going to performance music (band, chorus, orchestra).
Expectation is that students are working quietly and independently.
Free reading is typically an activity of last resort because, while we encourage reading, we want students to complete the work assigned first in case questions arise. Students can visit the other teachers as needed to get questions answered.
Excellent opportunity to ask questions and complete work.
Students also have the opportunity to go to the LC or front office as necessary.
Canvas
Canvas is our primary communication tool. It’s the district’s classroom management system with the ability to upload files, post announcements, create discussions, submit assignments, etc.
Every day, teachers post the target or target sheet (math), agenda, and homework for the day. ALL materials are located on Canvas for a particular lesson. This system is especially useful if a child is absent due to illness or to performance music small group lessons.
Students have their own access to Canvas; parents do not. If parent(s) would like access to Canvas, please use the child’s log in.
Absences
We cannot stress enough the importance of students checking Canvas when they are absent due to illness, appointments, or performance music. All of our materials are linked on this site for each of our classes.
Please call Kennedy's main office or absence line if your child is going to be absent or leave early for an appointment. They are the official record keepers of this type of information.
Infinite Campus
Infinite Campus is the online gradebook.
The gradebook is updates frequently, so we suggest that students get in the habit of checking their grades every Friday during supervised study. We are available to answer questions regarding grades during supervised study.
Chromebooks
There are NO parent login accounts for student google accounts/Chromebook access. Students would have to share their login and password in order for parents to get onto the Chromebook to see what is in their drive and in their email.
We consistently remind students of the expectations of the Chromebooks, as outlined in the documentation both students and parents signed. It is a district device and should be used to accomplish tasks associated with learning. It is NOT a device for streaming, coding, or exploring non-educational skills or tasks.
We use the Chromebooks every day, but not all day. We continue to employ a balance of digital and analog teaching methods, choosing the right fit for the students in front of us.
Swipe Cards and Lanyards
Students use these every day to access the pod. They MUST have them! We encourage students to wear their swipe card and lanyard during the day and then leave them in their locker so that it's never left at home.
If your child loses his or her swipe card, please let us know ASAP. The card needs to be deactivated so that other people cannot access the pod. New swipe cards can be purchased from the front office for five dollars.
