Kennedy Student Behavior Expectations

We define social and emotional learning (SEL) as an integral part of education and human development. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

SEL advances educational equity and excellence through authentic school-family-community partnerships to establish learning environments and experiences that feature trusting and collaborative relationships, rigorous and meaningful curriculum and instruction, and ongoing evaluation. SEL can help address various forms of inequity and empower young people and adults to co-create thriving schools and contribute to safe, healthy, and just communities.

How to Cultivate a Sense of Belonging in SchoolsTeachers can create opportunities for students to develop a sense of identity within a supportive environment.

SEL, Sense of Belonging, & S.O.A.R. Events

Monthly lessons will occur to implement SEL state and district standards to support the whole student as best as we are able. All grades/teams will be participating in grade and standard appropriate lessons on each of the designated days each month.

Dates of lesson are the following Fridays of each month: 9/4, 10/2, 11/6, 12/4, 1/15, 2/3 (Wednesday), 3/12, 4/9, and 5/7 (dates may change pending building-wide needs)

On each of these days, an adjusted whole building schedule will be implemented to also support academic instruction or other team activities that may transpire during the remainder of the day.
