Hey runners!
The temps keep dropping, the wind speeds are kicking up and if that's not enough, with the recent significant snowfall still covering portions of the course, we have made the hard decision to CANCEL this year's Positive Vector Marathon and Half Marathon runs.
For the safety of not only runners, but our amazing volunteers, there will be no run this year. We encourage anyone who wants to log their miles to please either run indoors this weekend, or gather with others to complete a run when the weather is more amicable.
PARTY
The post-run gathering WILL STILL BE HELD in the Gallery Room at the Lakely. Anyone who is registered for a run will be able to pick up their runner bag with tshirt and other goodies at the party. The room will be open at 4pm with the Lakely bar opening at 3:30 with beer, wine, and soft drinks available for purchase and full bar opening at 5pm.
From 5-8pm there will be light snacks, the raffle drawing, and our speaker for the night, WEAU's Heidi Paxson. We invite all runners, volunteers, families, and community members that want to join in! There will also be food and drinks available for purchase at the bar/restaurant space, near the Gallery Room.
FUNDRAISING
We understand it is disappointing to not be able to run this weekend. We appreciate your support and efforts in our fundraising as this is one of only two major fundraisers we do each year and covers a significant portion of our operational expenses for the year. This run has always been marketed as a "winter running event" and with winter comes the risk of extreme weather. This decision is not taken lightly, but ultimately safety is our main concern.
Our goal was for you is to raise $175 by run day, and if you would like to continue to fundraise and encourage others to support the cause, we can still achieve our goal of raising $15,000 to support mental health in the community. We also understand if you aren't comfortable in continuing your fundraising efforts.
Prizes for the top individual fundraisers, top teams, middle-ist funds raised, and the person who raises the highest prime number are still in play and will be mailed to winners if they are not present on Saturday evening. There will also be raffle drawings for Woodman's gift cards, Positive Vector Merchandise, and various art pieces by local artists.
Lastly, we want to thank each of you for your enthusiasm for this unique event and the challenges it presents! We really are in awe of all of the hard work and training you put in to be ready for this endeavor. Please tag @pvcv.run and @namichippewavalley on Instagram when you complete your independent or group makeup run and mark your calendars for better weather next year. We will return on Saturday, December 12, 2026, better than ever!
We can't wait to see you this weekend at the Lakely to come together as a community in support of mental health!
Sincerely,
The Positive Vector Planning Committee,
Tanya, Greg, Davin, Zac, Jeremy, & Nicky
