What are Career Pathways?

Career pathways are a series of connected education, training, and support strategies aimed at helping students achieve their definition of success.

What do they mean for kids?

Providing career pathways means that education and training align with the needs of the local job market, provide a range of secondary and postsecondary options, result in a secondary high school diploma with at least one recognized postsecondary credential, and help students enter or advance within an occupation.

What does it mean for schools?

Providing career pathways means that a specific ACP plan is developed for some occupations, allowing schools to focus on student and curriculum activities in the school with support from regional conveners of business and higher education. 

What does it mean for employers? 

Partnering with career pathways allows employers to inform and shape the future talent pipeline with the potential to foster young talent and highlight local company opportunities available. 

Why Pathways?

Young workers need education and training beyond high school. That means increased opportunities to gain early work experience, develop skills, and earn meaningful postsecondary credentials. Pathways allow for purposeful connections to be made between education and the workforce.
