Teachers of grades 6-12 were provided with ACP training to start the school year! They got updates on Career Readiness, how our recent graduates preformed compared to the state, and how to get the year started out with students to connect families, community, and industry into the classroom
The Building Bridges Team is a partnership between the Watertown Unified School District, the City of Watertown, the Watertown Chamber of Commerce, Watertown & Regional Madison College, Maranatha Baptist University, industry partners, and parents of students in the district.
This team was created in 2019 to collaborate to support economic development in the Watertown area.
This year, the Building Bridges Team assisted the grades 6-12 teachers and staff with a Career Readiness Kick-Off. During this professional development, staff rotated between rooms with different industry partners. They had conversations with one another on how we can support one another.
From this, there were numerous teachers who were able to make connections directly to their classrooms! For example, a couple of Social Studies teachers had a lawyer from Watertown visit their classroom. Another example was a Financial Literacy teacher having someone from a bank come to co-teach a lesson on personal finance.
In collaboration with CESA 5 the WUSD ACP Team, alongside 9 other area school districts, received ACP Professional Development at the Watertown Public Library. Educators were given a refresher on how to meet the E4E/ACP requirements. It was a great day to celebrate how far we've come in ACP!
Ongoing throughout the 2024-2025 school year Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers got 4 hours every Professional Development day to connect with industries in the area. The CTE team is made up of grades 6-12 CTE teachers and administration.

Fort Atkinson High School reached out to us and wanted to gain further insight on how we ran our classrooms with the support of advisory committees. They toured our facilities and had a group discussion with CTE teachers on how they can get more industry partnerships to support their curriculum and training. Students also got to participate by answering questions that Fort Atkinson teachers and administration had.
