1) Monthly Literature Ball
As the library encompasses many different types of information resources, our aim is to embody that. Once a month (approximately on the last Friday of every month) we have a costume ball, where users can dress up as whomever they please, a book character or library staff etc. At this ball we have donations pledged toward the improvement of the library and most importantly for the children's section of the library. Our aim is to make reading and access to information for children free, fun and interactive. Please RSVP to join the literature ball as we have limited space, first to book gets a spot! There is a fee of R100 per person to join the ball, you can find the form here.
Book Club for Kids takes place every Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 3pm-5pm. We help and encourage children to read, have fun interactive activities and the library staff also assists children in any homework or projects they may have. Parents or guardians must physically come to the library to sign up their children for these services, this also gives parents the opportunity to meet the staff with whom their children will be spending time and to fill out necessary forms such as their contact details etc.
3) Weekly Book Review
The Weekly Book Review takes place every Tuesday night at 19:00- 20:30. Everyone over the age of 18 is encouraged to join. Each Tuesday everyone picks a book to read, and we share the reviews the very next Tuesday. We find this is a very stimulating environment for adults and brings a lot of joy to the space. It also encourages adults to be a part of the library community. Currently we have about 30 members participating every Tuesday. You can join us here.
