Modern petrophysics is increasingly driven by digital technologies, open-source software, and automated workflows. Python has rapidly become one of the most powerful tools available for analysing well log data and producing publication-quality visualisations.
This practical two-hour workshop introduces participants to Python-based petrophysical evaluation through a hands-on learning experience focused on data visualisation and interpretation. No previous programming experience is required.
Participants will learn how to generate professional-quality cross-plots, histograms, and Computer Processed Interpretation (CPI) plots while gaining an appreciation of how Python can support reproducible, scalable, and efficient petrophysical workflows.

Loading LAS well log files using Python
Organising and managing petrophysical datasets
Creating lithology and fluid interpretation cross-plots
Producing histograms for quality control and cut-off analysis
Building professional Computer Processed Interpretation (CPI) plots

Applying best practices using modern scientific Python libraries including lasio, pandas, and matplotlib
