In the second year, the practical component of our studies focused on exposing us to real-world experiences within the field of community development. As part of this, we participated in a series of site visits to different organizations. These visits were designed to give us an overview of how each organization operates and the kind of work they do within communities.
During these visits, we were introduced to the mission, vision, and day-to-day functions of various organizations. We learned about their programmes, target groups, and how they implement development strategies. Each organization also explained their challenges and successes, giving us a deeper understanding of the practical realities of community work.
Through these engagements, we gained insight into the importance of collaboration, resource management, and community participation. These experiences helped bridge the gap between theory and practice and allowed us to reflect on how development principles are applied in real-life settings.
