What have Foothill's IB Diploma Graduates had to say?
"I would say that my IB experience was one of the main reasons I felt as prepared and confident as I did during my first year of college. Though I’m thankful for my two years of my IB for many reasons, what sticks out the most is the way the program at Foothill taught me to write. Work in every subject - from Literature to Biology helped me learn how to build an argument and communicate my thoughts clearly and concisely. These skills have proven invaluable in college classes and in some ways, have set me apart from students who did not have access to such a strong program in high school. " - Ian French, Class of 2018, currently attending Yale University, Singapore.
"I found that the IB community that developed among the students in the program was so unique and fulfilling that my experience was irreplaceable. While my peers in IB definitely wanted to achieve academically, we also helped one another and became an IB family. Plus, the teachers really look out for the students and want to do whatever is necessary to help them succeed." - Julianna Conley, Class of 2018, currently attending Notre Dame University.
"IB taught me valuable critical thinking and communication skills beyond those of a typical high school course, even beyond the AP courses I took. IB also helped me refine my organizational and time-management skills that made the transition to college a seamless and relatively painless one. Whereas many of my peers in college felt overwhelmed during their first year, I felt like IB gave me the tools to manage a demanding course load." - Grayson Real, Class of 2018, currently attending Duke University.
"The IB program at Foothill HS made me a better learner and thinker overall. I learned how to think critically, acknowledge and understand bias, as well as how to form my own arguments. I truly believe that even after graduation, these skills have and will continue to transcend into my higher education and career. I also benefitted from the rigor of the program. I felt more prepared and confident in University than I otherwise would have if I hadn't been in IB. As for Foothill's program in particular, my success in IB wouldn't have been possible without the caring and hard working teachers involved." - Yasmine Othman, Class of 2021, currently attending University of Victoria, British Columbia
