Recommended Course Schedules

These are sample schedules to help give an idea of the courses that will help lead to success in the IB program.  Each situation is unique.  Please reach out if you have questions.  

Freshman Schedule

English 1 Honors

World Language Year 1 or 2

World History Honors

Biology/AP Biology

Geometry/Geometry Honors/Alg 2 Trig/Alg 2 Trig Honors

Physical Education/Sport

7th course, if desired


Note: If Algebra 1 is taken as a Freshman, it is necessary to take Geometry in the summer after Freshman year.

Sophomore Schedule

English 2 Honors

World Language Year 2 or 3

AP European History

Chemistry/Honors Chemistry/AP Chemistry

Alg 2 Trig/Alg 2 Trig Honors/PreCalculus/PreCalculus Honors

Physical Education/Sport

7th course, if desired


Note: If AP Chemistry is taken as a Sophomore, Chemistry SL cannot be taken as an IB course Junior/Senior year.

Note: AP European History is strongly recommended when possible.  However, students who have taken only Honors World History will be considered if their other academic areas are strong.

Junior Schedule

English Literature HL1

World Language Year 3 or 4

AP US History

Biology HL1

PreCalculus/PreCalculus Honors/AP Calculus AB/AP Calculus BC

IB "elective" (Chemistry, Environmental Systems & Societies, Psychology, Visual Arts)

Theory of Knowledge (2nd semester only)


Note: AP US History serves as year 1 of History of the Americas HL.

Note: PreCalculus Honors/AP Calculus serves as year 1 of Math Analysis & Approaches HL.

Senior Schedule
