EARLY ASSURANCE OF ADMISSION (Collegiate Level) into TUCVM
a. APVS students who meet the following criteria will be eligible for early assurance (EAA) of admission prior to the application deadline of the current year
i. Complete a TUCVM Early Assurance of Admission Application
1. Letter of Intent to be submitted by individuals to be considered for EAA by March 15
2. TUCVM EAA Application (online) to be submitted a minimum of 60 days prior to the regular TUCVM admissions application deadline for the current year (TUCVM EAA online Application will be available by June 1)
3. All applications must be accompanied by a completed PVM Scholars Check List Form, which should be signed by the PVM Scholars Program Director or designee
4. Applicants for EAA must complete an interview
5. Individuals accepted for EAA will be notified 30 days prior to the regular TUCVM admissions application deadline for the current year
ii. Must have cumulative GPA of 3.5+/4.0 (AVSC Veterinary Sciences Option; 3+1 Curriculum) or 3.3+/4.0 (AVSC Science Option, 4 Year Curriculum) OR earned a math/science GPA of 3.3 or higher with a minimum of 30 credits of the TUCVM prerequisite courses at TU at the time of application.
iii. Must have a preferred minimum combined Verbal/Quantitative Reasoning GRE score of 1000 (taken prior to September 2011) or 300 (taken after September 2011) and an Analytical Writing GRE Score of 3.5/6/0
iv. Complete an interview consisting of a minimum of two TUCVM Admissions members.
v. Major in Animal and Veterinary Sciences - Veterinary Science Option or Science Option (NOTE: Students must major or minor in this program for the duration of their undergraduate years at TU in order to be eligible; transfers from other departments without the completion of this major or minor are not eligible.)
vi. Completed at least 60 semester hours of courses at TU at the time of application
vii. Completed or be currently enrolled in the following mathematics/science courses as a part of the following AVSC degree programs – AVSC Veterinary Science Option (3+1 Program) or the AVSC Science Option (4 Year Program) at the time of application to TUCVM:
1. Introductory Animal Science (APSC 201 or equivalent)
2. General Biology (230, 231 or their equivalents)
3. General Chemistry (231, 233, 232, 234 or their equivalents)
4. Organic Chemistry (320, 321 or their equivalents)
5. Pre-calculus/Calculus I or Statistics (MATH 107, MATH 110, MATH 207, EVSC 500 or MATH 304 or their equivalents, totaling six credits)
6. English Composition and Literature (English 101 and 102 or their equivalents, including TU’s English Honors sequence)
viii. Demonstrated a genuine interest in veterinary medicine as indicated by participation in the Pre-Vet Med Scholars Program activities, including, but not limited to maintaining a 3.0/4.0 GPA, participate in V-CAP, successfully complete the APSC 120 course, and score a preferred minimum of 300 on the GRE (Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning as of September 2011).
ix. Demonstrated a genuine interest in attending TUCVM as indicated by a) entering TU with a major in APVS (Science or Vet Science Option); b) enrollment in one of these options within the APVS major at the time of application; and c) participate regularly in ALL PVM activities.
b. Students who accept Early Admission will be notified of their acceptance into TUCVM at least two weeks prior to the deadline for regular admission into TUCVM and will not be allowed to apply to other veterinary schools (must sign an agreement).
c. Students who accept Early Admission must complete the degree requirements for the APVS, Veterinary Science Option (3+1 Program) or the APVS, Science Option (4 Year Program) prior to the start of the TUCVM degree program, including ALL TUCVM admissions pre-requisite courses. Failure to do so will result in the revocation of his/her admission into the TUCVM for the DVM for the application cycle.
d. Students who do not meet the requirements outlined above or do not agree to 5.b. above will not be eligible for early admission and must submit application for admission via the regular admission process of the TUCVM for the application year.
