Welcome to our 3rd Grade website! This is where you will find the weekly newsletters that will come out each Friday. You can also explore our other pages using the links on the top right. We hope you will find this to be a useful resource in keeping up with what is going on in your child’s classrooms.

Make sure to send your child to school in uniform. We will change into PE/ Dance clothes before specials.
If you have any questions please let us know.
The students this year have blue or purple Take-Home folder that need to come back to school with them! This wil contain their calander, graphic organizers, and any work the kids are taking home.
Weekly Objectives
English Language Art and Reading: This week we'll be reading and responding to the children's classic "Wind in the Willows". We'll be doing a read aloud and answering questions and writing about what we read.
Math: Module 1 (Lessons 3,4,5,6,7): We are starting a deep dive into understanding multiplication as adding equal groups and as represented by drawn models including arrays and number bonds. We will practice using the vocabulary of multiplication (factors X factor = product) and relate that to division. Some homework will be assigned and they will have the week to complete it!
Science: We will learn about properties of matter and ways to observe and measure different types of objects. We will use hands-on experiences to discover and describe mass, density, and magnetism.
Social Studies: This week in Social Studies we'll be looking at building communities.

You can help us and your child be ready for the first day of school by doing these 2 things!
Send your child’s PE/Dance clothes starting Tuesday. Find the fine arts tab on the website menu to find more information and their schedule for changing.
Give your child affirmations Monday morning to help with the first-day jitters!

Meet the Teachers
Welcome Back!
Ms. Barter, Mr. Moore, Ms. Laporte, and Mr. Moren are so excited about meeting the incoming 3rd graders and starting school next week! We thought this would be a good time to introduce ourselves and let you know a little bit about what to expect this year. Watch for a Remind message on Friday about our first newsletter of the year!
Ms. Barter earned her bachelors degree at Northwestern State University. She is excited to teach Math and Science this year and help build stuents' confidence in both subjects. She is a big space nerd who loves exploring and learning about the universe. Ms. Barter can't wait to share her enthusiasm for learning with her students!
Mr. Moore teaches English Language Arts and Reading. He is a passionate writer and hopes to pass that passion along. Students will dive deeper into genre, author's purpose, grammar, as well as improving rhetorical skills. Throughout the year, students will be building writing portfolios. All pieces will relate to lessons and students will collaborate and share during the writing process.
Ms. Laporte teaches Math and Science. She hopes to make math accessible to every student through the arts, activity and real-world connections. She has prior experience as an educator, parent and businessperson (BA, Computer Science and MBA). When not at school, Ms. Laporte loves being out in nature, travelling, reading, and learning something new.
Mr. Moren recived his Bachlor Degree from UTA and his Masters from Southwestern Baptist. He is married with three grown children and eight grandchildren. He has been an educator for six years and had taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and kindergarten. He is looking forward to teaching at TeSA.
Math this year: Students this year will expand their knowledge on arrays, multiplication, division, 2-D and 3-D shapes, time, area, fractions, rounding, and more! We also will incorporate and develop writing skills through word problems and well-rounded responses.
ELAR this year: Students will dive deeper into genre, author's purpose, grammar, as well as improving rhetorical skills. Throughout the year, students will be building writing portfolios. All pieces will relate to lessons and students will collaborate and share during the writing process.
Science this year: Students will learn about matter, force, motion, energy, the earth, space, ecosystems, and organisms. Our learning will include structured scientific and engineering-design processes to investigate and experiment within these topics.
Social Studies this year: students will be learning about communities, founding fathers, Cultural Heritage, geography, environment, government, and economics.
