Meet the Teachers
Welcome Back!
Ms. Barter, Mr. Moore, and Mrs. Ogden are so excited about meeting the incoming 3rd graders and starting school next week! We thought this would be a good time to introduce ourselves and let you know a little bit about what to expect this year. Watch for a Remind message on Friday about our first newsletter of the year!
Ms. Barter teaches Math, the students this year will be expanding their knowledge on Arrays, multiplication, division, 2-D and 3-D shapes, reading time, area, fractions, rounding, comparing numbers, place value, and more! We as a class will also be incorporating and developing writing skills through word problems and well-rounded responses.
Mr. Moore teaches English Language Arts and Reading. He is a passionate writer and hopes to pass that passion along. Students will dive deeper into genre, author's purpose, grammar, as well as improving rhetorical skills. Throughout the year, students will be building writing portfolios. All pieces will relate to lessons and students will collaborate and share during the writing process.
Mrs. Ogden teaches Science and Social Studies. Both classes will be developing writing responses to text based questions throughout the year. For social studies, the students will be learning about communities, founding fathers, Cultural Heritage, geography, environment, government, and economics. In Science, the students will be learning matter, force, motion, energy, earth, space, and ecosystems.
