Theology 11 is divided into two semesters, with the first semester being on Ecclesiology (Theology of the Church) and the second semester being on the Sacraments.
Ecclesiology Course Overview
This course is designed to help the students understand that in and through the Church they encounter the living Jesus Christ. They will be introduced to the fact that the Church was founded by Christ through the Apostles and is sustained by him through the Holy Spirit. The students will come to know that the Church is the living Body of Christ today. This Body has both divine and human elements. While particular events in the life of the Church may be referenced, primary attention will be given to the sacred nature of the Church and the theology of the Church (ecclesiology).

Define the Church as both human and divine.
Describe the role of the Holy Spirit in the Church.

Sacraments Course Overview
This course explores the sacramental and liturgical life of the Church, which is the means by which the Church is able to participate in the life of Christ and encounter grace. After forming a foundation in sacramental and liturgical theology, students will explore each of the seven sacraments in the Roman Catholic Church, rites associated with dying, the rite of Christian burial (funerals), the Liturgy of the Hours, and the liturgical year, and sacramentals.

Identify the purpose and defining characteristics of each of the sacraments.
