WIOA is the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and is a federally-funded program designed to promote and improve the employment, retention, earnings and occupational skills of its participants.

WIOA Specifics:
Program Eligibility is based upon income guidelines issued by the federal government. These guidelines do not apply if you were laid off and able to provide proof.
If You Are Not Eligible, SC Works can still connect you to other community resources that may be able to provide the assistance you need.
Participation in WIOA is FREE.
You May Be Eligible:
If you are a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident
If you are unemployed or underemployed
If you've been laid off and there is little chance of being called back to your old job
If you are having trouble finding a new job based on your current skills
Is Training Available?
Training may be available, but must be suitable and available at a reasonable cost. You must receive notice of approval in writing before WIOA can pay tuition.
The Training Phase of the program is limited to one (1) year. After program completion, you are required to participate in follow-up assistance for one year.
Supportive Services:
Supportive services may be available after being approved for occupational training
Childcare Assistance (while in approved training)
Work Tools/Uniform Assistance (case by case basis)
Transportation Allowance
