Dr. Berry's Dual Enrollment English students had the opportunity to share either their Literacy Narrative or a Profile of a Writer. Their findings were presented in a poster format, and students and staff had the opportunity to walk through and speak to the students about their research in the media center. What an absolute honor it was to hear about the people that inspire you and your personal passions and aspirations. Your excitement was clearly felt and seen in your projects. Well done!
The reason for sharing your knowledge is twofold. First, the entire point of creating new knowledge is to share it. Within academia and many other work environments, professionals get together to share their work with others. Doctors, business men and women, journalists, academics, hairstylists, and tattoo and piercing professionals come together from all around the region (sometimes the whole country or the world) to share their work and learn from one another. Through your work this semester, you have contributed to the field of knowledge in writing and rhetoric studies. You will share some of that knowledge with a community of like-minded scholars. Second, many people are charged with giving presentations in the workplace. Developing the skills necessary to remediate research and written work into visual and oral forms is very valuable. We will simulate these environments in our class as practice for the day you might be the one presenting a conference paper or presenting your research/ideas in the workplace or in a town hall. ~Dr. Berry
