New Donations (Donors Choose)

Receipt of materials

Materials funded through DonorsChoose will be sent to the school where the teacher is registered on the site when materials are ordered. If the material is an iPod, tablet, laptop, desktop or similar item, then it will need to be immediately sent to the district office for asset tagging and inventory. Please submit a Help Desk Ticket, which will be assigned to Computer Services for the tagging and setup of the equipment. In addition, School site principals will also need to complete the Report of Gift Form and send this with the donated equipment to Computer Services Department. Delaying the process will only delay deployment in your classroom.

If the desktop or laptop is a Windows machines, then a professional version of Windows will need to be installed.

If the donated device is a Chromebook, then a $24.50 Google Academic Provisioning License per Chromebook needs to be submitted with a Requisition, with the Vendor of CDW-G. Please note the Help Desk Ticket number submitted for the donation setup on the Requisition.

Ownership of funded materials

Materials funded through DonorsChoose.org are considered to be the property of the classroom and will be sent to the school where the teacher is registered on our site when materials are ordered. When they arrive, materials should be given to the teacher who submitted the project request, to be used in the classroom for which they were purchased. Districts and schools often have policies around documenting or tracking donated items, and we encourage teachers to learn about such policies before submitting requests for funding on our site.

DonorsChoose.org will not be able to override these policies, but will provide support in cases where a teacher is denied access to materials that were delivered for his/her classroom.

If a teacher leaves a school:

Any materials that have been delivered to the school by default should remain at that school if a teacher leaves. Link to this information can be found here. However, the teacher is welcome to take the materials with him/her to a new school if both of these criteria are met:

  • The teacher will continue to teach in a public school and in a position that meets the Donorschoose eligibility criteria.

  • The principal gives consent for the teacher to take funded materials to use in his/her new classroom.

If you have any questions, or would like input on your classroom grant, then please feel free to send them my way.
