The California Scholarship Federation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to recognize and encourage academic achievement and community service among middle and high school students in California. Founded in 1967, CJSF fosters high standards of scholarship, service and citizenship in the middle school grades. Like CSF, CJSF emphasizes service to the school and the community while fostering pride in scholastic achievement.

There are approximately 1500 chapters in middle school and high schools throughout the state, and each chapter is comprised of students members who meet eligibility requirements. Each chapter is led by a staff adviser.

Eligible students become members by submitting applications based on their report card grades. CJSF Membership is gained after qualifying grades are earned each trimester. In order to become a member, the student must submit an application each trimester the student is eligible. A point system specified in the CJSF State By-Laws establishes the membership requirements.

Membership is for one trimester, and membership drives are held each trimester within established periods dictated by the State bylaws.

- Must have applied for every trimester of 7th and 8th grade to receive a recognition award at the end of 8th grade.
Honor Award Members (Grade 8 only)

- CJSF students may become Honor Award Members if they are members for four trimesters.
- Those who qualify have the Honor Award seal placed on their certificate of promotion.

- ALL students who qualify will receive the official CJSF certificate.
- Students will also be able to join CSF at the High School in their first semester of 9th grade.

- Active members attend meetings
- Active members do community service - 24 hours by the end of 8th grade
- Active membership is VOLUNTARY
