Reading & Guided Study with Looker
During Reading, students will be reading with purpose in a variety of print materials, using the reading strategies that they have learned or are learning, selecting materials of interest, figuring out the meaning of unfamiliar words, integrating new information with known information (activating prior knowledge), locating ideas and themes in the text, questioning the reader, the author, and the text; making inferences and predictions, drawing conclusions, recognizing the writer’s perspective, differentiating between fact and opinion and creating visual & sensory images from text.
During Guided Study, students will receive instruction within their IEP goal area(s), support in completing regular education classroom assignments and assistance in preparing for tests and quizzes. Students will use this time to stay organized by checking their grades in Synergy and upcoming assignments on teacher websites. In addition, instruction in academic behavior life skills such as grit, growth mindset, goal setting, optimism and self-advocacy will be a part of this guided study time.
