Majority of grade will be tests and quizzes. Daily work and keeping up with notebook will be vital in preparing for tests and quizzes.
Science Fair is also a large part of a students grade for 2nd quarter. It’s important to keep up with due dates throughout the project.
Late work (anything turned in after it is asked for) will be scored at 60%.
Accuracy and correctness matter in science. In middle school science, very little of what we study is completely unknown; there is generally a right answer. There may be several ways to arrive at the right answer. What this means to students is that working hard and / or spending a long time on an assignment isn’t always enough. The work also has to be correct.
Occasionally, there will be assignments that will be evaluated partially on hard work or effort. Evidence of effort includes, but is not limited to:
1. Neatness
2. Going above and beyond the minimum requirements
a. More than is asked for
b. Indicators of outside research
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY POLICY
Academic integrity means that all work is done by the students. Any type of dishonesty in school work is NOT integrity. Dishonesty includes, but is not limited to:
Copying the work of another student.
Using notes during tests and quizzes without permission.
Copying and pasting from electronic media.
Providing answers to others.
When academic dishonesty occurs:
a. The student(s) will receive a ‘0’ for the assignment
b. A second infraction will result in disciplinary action
