Vocal auditions will take place April 1st from 3-5pm and dance auditions will take place April 7th from 3-4:30pm. Students will be assigned a specific time for their vocal audition and will be allowed to leave when their vocal audition is complete (for example, if a student is assigned 3:45pm for their vocal audition they will be allowed to leave when their vocal audition is finished).
All dance auditions will take place April 7th from 3-4:30pm and students will need to stay for that entire time period.
Students that have after-school commitments on either of these days and cannot make it for the audition will be required to complete their dance and/or vocal audition(s) individually during a Flex period between April 1st-7th.
All vocal auditions will be private in Mrs. Travis's office. Dance auditions will be "open auditions" in groups, which means that occasionally other auditioning students will sit out and watch. Students will all audition in a large group together. The dance auditions are done multiple times, asking students to switch positions or rotate rows each after each pass. Students may be asked to sit out a pass or hop back in for a pass. It all depends on what the director and choreographer need to see.

Show Choir will study/perform a challenging repertoire and will develop singing and listening skills at a nuanced level. This group relies heavily on dance and theatrics.
This course is performance-based and will require occasional weekend travel for the competition show choir season (mid/late February) and once-a-week afternoon rehearsals starting in November after the Fall musical ends until our last competition at the end of February. We will also hold Choreography Camp in November with a week of afternoon rehearsals to learn the complete show choreography. Learning the choreography up front will allow the group to practice effectively and successfully for the season.
During the 2024-2025 competition show choir year, we attended two competitions where we earned 1st Place in our division and also placed competitively amongst show choirs with decades or more of experience! We are on track to make a splash in this space!
The art form of Show Choir requires costuming and, therefore, fundraising. Fundraising is an essential part of a thriving and successful show choir program. Students should prepare to participate in individual and group fundraisers, including direct-sales fundraisers and also events-based fundraisers.
