Meet Catherine
Myo•ga Speech is the exciting combination of Catherine's passion to help others with her unsurpassed knowledge in the fields of orofacial myofunctional therapy, speech therapy, tethered oral tissue ("TOTs") and yoga.
Catherine knows firsthand how important empowering quality, patient-centered therapy is for proper treatment. Throughout her childhood, she received countless hours of insufficient therapy for her stutter. It was not until she was nineteen years old that she was finally given the tools she needed to manage her stutter, improve her self-confidence, and experience life instead of the shame brought on by her stutter.
Catherine's experience of living and growing up with a communication impairment gives her a unique perspective. She believes in patient/family education, collaborative relationships, whole body involvement (using the nervous system and breath), and staying up-to-date on trainings and research to provide you and your loved ones with the best care possible.
Catherine earned both her bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of Florida. To ensure she always provides the best and most up-to-date treatment, Catherine has accumulated hundreds of hours post-graduate continuing education classes, has taken numerous specialized trainings and courses, and has been awarded over eleven (11) ACE awards to commemorate her endless pursuit of knowledge. She is a strong believer in the value of constantly learning all advancements in research and clinical techniques.
In her personal life, Catherine can be found teaching or attending yoga classes. She enjoys reading, painting, drawing, DIY-ing anything she can get her hands on, traveling, playing with her four nephews, and spending time with her husband, Shawn, two dogs and cat. One day she hopes to earn her private pilot's license!
Catherine has achieved over 800 hours of Continuing Education, far exceeding the requirements for licensure.
