About Sra. Boehnke:
Katherine Boehnke has taught Spanish at CY Middle School in Casper, Wyoming for 19 years. She earned National Board Certification in World Languages in 2011 and renewed in 2021. At CY, Katherine helps build student community as a coordinator of the WEB program and has also served on the school’s leadership team. A strong advocate for language education, she served as President of the Wyoming Association of Language Teachers (2019–2021) and President of the Pacific Northwest Council for Languages (2022–2023). She also co-led the statewide task force that brought the Seal of Biliteracy to Wyoming and was named the 2025 Wyoming Association of Language Teachers Teacher of the Year. Katherine believes deeply in the power of joy, positivity, and meaningful communication to build strong classroom connections. Outside of education, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, baking, and doing the New York Times crossword.
