my name is Aline Cassidy and I am the German / Russian teacher at CY Middle School. I want to give you a small overview about the German and Russian classes that can be offered at CY Middle School.
I have been a World Language teacher since 2015. I used to be a language instructor for German at Casper College and I am currently teaching German and Russian at CY Middle school.

Yes, I got married in 2013.

Yes, I have twin daughters.
3. Where are you from?
I am from Germany.
4. When did you come to the US?
I came to the US in 2013. I am became a citizen in 2019.
5. How many languages do you speak?
I speak 3 languages: German, English and Russian.
6. How many years have you been teaching?
I have been teaching since 2015.
7. What's your hobby?
I do jiu jitsu and other martial arts. I also love to paint and read.
8. Why did you become a teacher?
I love to teach children about other languages and cultures. I love to see children grow and learn and explore new concepts and ideas.
9. What's your favorite food?
I love to eat Sushi.
10. Do you have any pets?
I have German Shepherd dogs, cats and chickens :) I love animals.
Things to know about learning a language:
1. Keep an open mind, learning a language is like climbing a mountain. Some parts will be easier and some will be more difficult.
2. Learning a language requires studying vocabulary. Vocabulary should be studied every day at home.
3. Learning a new language is fun and engaging, it can also be challenging. Mrs. Cassidy is always available for re-teach sessions.
German Course Offerings
This language course is designed for curious, motivated students, who enjoy learning about other languages and cultures. The course is ideal for students with advanced reading and writing skills. Students will work on communication skills and experience the excitement of understanding a globally significant language. Students taking this class will not only gain confidence from mastering something new and challenging but they will also become responsible global citizens.
Prerequisite: German 1A in 7th grade
This course is a continuation of the year-long German 1A course in the formal study of the German language and culture. The student must have successfully completed German 1A in order to enroll in this course. Students will continue to work on communication skills and experience the excitement of understanding a globally significant language.
This course begins the formal study of the German language. Students will work on communication skills and experience the excitement of understanding a globally significant language. Students who successfully complete German 1A continue their study of the first level of the language in 8th grade with the German 1 course.
This semester-long course explores world languages through a focus on cultural practices, traditions, and comparisons. Students will work on projects to learn how language and culture influence people’s lives and communities around the world.
Russian Course Offerings
Russian 1A is a year-long course that introduces students to the Russian language and the cultures of Russian-speaking countries. Students will develop foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, building proficiency in the language as they deepen their understanding of cultural traditions and the role of language in global communities.
Students who successfully complete Russian 1A continue their study of the first level of the language in 7th grade with the Russian 1B course.
Prerequisite: Russian 1A in 7th grade
Russian 1B is a year-long course that continues the study of the Russian language and the cultures of Russian-speaking countries that was started in Russian 1A in 7th grade. Students will build on their existing skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, reaching a higher level of proficiency in the language as they deepen their understanding of cultural traditions and the role of language in global communities. Together with Russian 1A this course follows the same curriculum as a high school Level 1 course.
Russian 1 is a year-long course that introduces students to the Russian language and the cultures of Russian-speaking countries. Students will develop foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, reaching a higher level of proficiency in the language as they deepen their understanding of cultural traditions and the role of language in global communities.
This course follows the Level 1 Russian curriculum. This course receives high school graduation credit and appears on the student’s high school transcript as pass/fail.
