We have the exact same three rules as in the rest of the school. If we all follow these three simple rules, all students in our class will feel safe and allow themselves to take chances with their learning.

- The best way for students to learn is to practice every day. The year-long classes require 15 minutes of intense study each night. That way, they don't have to do more than that the night before any assessment.
- Students are allowed to retake formative assessments up until the summative assessment for that unit. No re-assessments will be given the last week of the quarter. Year-long classes require additional work to practice prior to receiving permission to retake an assessment.
- Students can come in before school any day for extra help. They can also ask to come in after school. They should come prepared with specific concepts or work that they need help on.

I was born in a small town in New Mexico, moved to Colorado as a 4th grader, but by my 6th grade year, was living here in Casper. After graduating from Kelly Walsh High School, I spent two years at Casper College pursuing a major in electrical engineering. After moving on to the University of Wyoming, I switched majors to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I completed a Master's Degree in Education. For ten years, I worked as a Spanish teacher in Lakewood, Colorado and served in curriculum, diversity, and assessment projects throughout my time there. I have been an advocate for collaboration among world language teachers by regularly presenting my ideas at state, regional, and national conferences in addition to being a workshop presenter and keynote speaker around the nation. I have received “Best of Colorado” awards for two different presentations at the state level and a "Best of Wyoming" award as well. In 2014, I was selected Colorado World Language Teacher of the Year by the Colorado Congress of Foreign Language Teachers and was a candidate for Regional Teacher of the Year at the Southwest Conference on Language Teaching. I moved back to Casper to teach here at CY in July of 2014. Since then, I have presented at several world language conferences on topics such as national world language standards and improving student engagement. I have been a member of our district's curriculum development committee and on the state's World Language Standards committee and Seal of Biliteracy committee. In 2023, I was selected as the Wyoming World Language Teacher of the Year by the Wyoming Association of Language Teachers (WALT). I am currently the president-elect of WALT.

Answer: Yes, since 2002.

Answer: Yes, two boys...and yes, sometimes I feel bad for my wife for only having boys.

Answer: 6'5" when I don't slouch.

Answer: Yes...but not from me.

Answer: Yes. Now it's more like slow-motion replays from on old beat-up VCR.
5. Was Spanish your first language?
Answer: Yes and no. I was around it all the time as a child (it was my dad's first language) and understood it, but rarely used it until learning more about it in school.
4. Did you always get straight A's in Spanish?
Answer: No. It was a process to learn it and improve just like you are learning it and improving.

Answer: I have been shaving my head since the year 2000...it's been a long time but I assume I can still grow a long, beautiful head of hair if I wish.
