  • PRIMARY FUNCTION:
      1. Respond to and provide basic and advanced emergency care to patients


  • ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    1. Responsible for participating in the delivery of non-emergency and emergency patient care in accordance with Basic Life Support protocols and all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, under the direction of the paramedic on duty.
    2. Performs an initial assessment of the patient upon arrival and prioritizes assessment according to patient's condition. Obtains patient's chief complaint and medical history. Provides basic life support and reports patient's medical condition to receiving hospital.
    3. Responsible for the operation of the emergency vehicle in accordance with federal, state and local laws and regulations; as well as NCAD policies and procedures.
    4. Demonstrates proficient knowledge of all equipment and medical supplies used in the ambulances and at the stations.
    5. Prepares run reports, billing sheets and other documentation related to basic life support calls according to policy.
    6. Performs routine maintenance checks on vehicles at the beginning of each shift. Assures that the vehicle is completely stocked with BLS supplies according to established par levels. Properly documents the vehicle check and documents any service required. Promptly reports any vehicle or equipment malfunctions to the appropriable personnel.
    7. Responsible for daily cleanliness of the vehicle and station.
    8. Attends meetings / in-services as required.

  • OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
    1. Performs other duties as assigned.
    2. Maintains regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the Company's sole discretion. Available and willing to work such overtime, weekends, and holidays as the Company determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
    3. Committed to a high standard of safety, and willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company's safety policies and rules. Willing to report safety violations and potential violations to appropriate management personnel. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others


  • KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    • EDUCATION:
      1. Completion of high school or its equivalent.
      2. Completion of an approved EMT program

    • LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
      1. Current Missouri Licensed EMT
      2. Current CPR Certification
      3. Current Missouri Class F Driver's license.

    • RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
      1. Minimum of one(1) year EMT experience.

    • OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
      1. Working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and usage. Ability to work independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
      2. Works regularly with confidential patient and personnel information.
      3. Ability to maintain composure and tact in stressful situations.
      4. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
      5. Flexible work schedule.
      6. Acceptable driving record and proficient in safe driving.
      7. Working knowledge of Newton County roads and streets.

    1. Failure to comply with NCAD' policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment or of membership or association with NCAD Ambulance.
    2. The employee may access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The employee may only share such information with those who have a need to know specific patient information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other company operations.
    3. The employee is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding NCAD' policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the designated Privacy Officer.
    4. The employee is expected to actively participate in Company privacy training and is required to communicate privacy policy information to co-workers, students, patients and others in accordance with Company policy.
