In the summer of 2016, my baseball coach had an idea. His idea was that if we took all of the best baseball players from our age in Parkland, we have a chance at making a really good team. Our plan was to enter the Little League World Series. This is a series of tournaments where the best kids from a city go up against other kids from other cities. The best team from each region of the country, and regions around the world, go to the national and international tournament to try and become the best team from around the world. In our age group the finals were held in Livermore, California. Our team played very good from the beginning. We beat all of the teams in our district and our section easily. Then we went to the state competition in Tampa. Although I was scared to face kids that were also very good, my team and I fought through our timidness and won the state championships. The southeast regional championships were also very hard, and we managed to win and become the Southeast regional champions. After that, we flew out to California to compete in the national championship! Everyone on the team was riddled with excitement. We won our first three games, and got all the way to United States finals! WE knew that game was going to be hard. We were playing against Hawaii, and they were very good. We ended up losing to Hawaii at a score of 5-3. My team and I were heartbroken, but we knew that we tried the best we could. We were all thankful for this experience, and this experience definitely taught me a lot. I learned that no matter whether you win or lose, if you have fun it is always a good experience. If you are having fun in what you are doing, it does not matter whether you win or lose.
