It seems just like yesterday when I was in South Africa, on a surfing safari with my dad and his friend. It was 7:00 a.m, and we were getting ready to leave for Victoria bay, a beach near Cape Town. As we arrived, wetsuits on and boards racked, we saw the beach was filled with students, in their uniforms, going into the beach with their backpacks. We later found out it was the last day before break for students there. We paddled around the students, and got to surfing. There was nothing in my mind but peace as I floated next to my father, holding his board so I wouldn't float away. I remember the setting perfectly; the morning sun reflecting off the water, African music playing in the background, the cold water defeating our wetsuits and freezing us slowly. This moment took place on October 15, 2013. However, it feels as if it were simply yesterday. I cherish this memory greatly because it is my dream spot, so when I am stressed I zone out into it, imagining the perfect day.
