My mom and dad’s best friend from college, Nelson Figueroa is one of the reasons I play baseball. I have looked up to him since I could remember him. He played professional baseball for many teams and I can remember going to many of his games. Nelson is one of the my influences in why I play baseball today. He has taught me as much as I know about how to play the sport today. My parents are very close the Nelson and his family that are practically family. We have gone to visit him many times while he played, but now he is an announcer and we don't see him as much anymore. I can remember one time when my family got a chance to visit Nelson, he brought us to one of my all time favorite baseball players Jason Bay. Jason Bay played for the Red Sox, my favorite team, so this was a dream come true for me. Every time I think of Red Sox I end up thinking of Jason Bay who I got a chance to meet because of Nelson. He gave me the opportunity to meet someone else I look up to in the sport, so my influence and one of the reasons I started to play the sport got me the chance to meet one of my favorite players. Lastly, I still look up to Nelson as he was and still is a good role model for me and the type of person I strive to be one day.
