Hi there! Welcome to Become! I created this blog about Philosophy because my connection with this subject is enormous. To me, everything we reflect about and try to find an explanation for is Philosophy. I might be wrong but that is why I’m also doing this. Since 7th Grade I had Philosophy as a mandatory subject in Brazil and I just stopped because I moved to US and in my new school, I don’t have Philosophy. So this is also an alternative to get in touch with it again. But why all of this interest and love towards Philosophy? Simply because it makes me think. It gives me a headache the amount of times I try to find answers and always end up with even more questions than answers. That sucks but it is also intriguing.
Why Become as the name of the blog? I chose that name because it refers to the first time that I had my mind blown away with Philosophy. It was something that moved me so much that I even wrote a text about it and sent to my Philosophy teacher over Facebook. Become comes from Heraclitus. In his theory, the world is changing every second just like we are. So we are never something constant, we are not defined. We are always becoming something or somebody. Heraclitus was one of the first Philosophers that I learnt about and the only one who didn’t talk about reason. I learnt about his thought at the same time I learnt about Parmenides and Heraclitus and Heraclitus’s one fit me better. Now days, I don’t agree completely with Heraclitus but back then, I would defend what he said with everything I had.
If you want to know my thoughts about this theory and the text I wrote, in my next post I’ll publish the version I wrote in Portuguese and its translated version. I believe it’s important to study Philosophers and Philosophy because it gives you a better background when it comes to your own beliefs and what you want for your life. You get to see different perspectives and choose the one that fits you better. And this is what this blog is for. Not only will I be on my own research in this deep world, but also I’ll be able to see what you guys think and amplify my points of view. Yet what about you? What do you think about it?
