P.L.T.W.

(All Classes are 1 YEAR)

This program is designed to give students a head start in the pursuit of engineering and other careers in the STEM fields. Students begin the path in the 7th grade taking Design and Modeling, where they will use hands-on projects, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to complete design challenges while they learn the design process used by engineers, and work on Inventor engineering software to design playgrounds. Year two students can move on to robotics and trace the history, development, and influence of automation and robotics as they learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Students design, build, and program real-world objects. Candidates for the PLTW program should have an interest in computers and STEM fields, the maturity to handle independent work, the responsibility to use computers and equipment appropriately, strong math skills, excellent behavior, great communication skills, and the ability to work well with others.

Career Explorer

Students will learn and have hands-on experience with careers in modules with peers.  In addition, students will discover what it takes to be a success in a career of their interest.

Design and Modeling

Students will learn the basic of engineering  and design along with parametric and isometric drawing skills. The will learn to work together on projects to design and build concept from start to finish. Students will also learn to 3D model to bring concepts  from the imagination to reality. They will also have a chance to work with 3D printers to make their rapid prototyping ideas and projects reality.

Robotics

Students learn about the history and impact of automation and robotics as they explore mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Using the VEX Robotics® platform, students apply what they know to design and program traffic lights, robotic arms, and more.

You will take two main course Design and Modeling and Automation and Robotics.

The Process of Building!

The Final Results!

Lets See if it GOES!

Biomedical Detectives

Students play the role of real-life medical detectives as they collect and analyze medical data to diagnose disease. They solve medical mysteries through hands-on projects and labs, measure and interpret vital signs, examine nervous system structure and function, investigate disease outbreaks, and explore how a breakdown within the human body can lead to dysfunction.

Make the cut.

Solve the mystery.

Environmental Science

Today’s students have grown up in an age of “building a green world." In this class, students learn how to apply this concept to the fields of architecture and construction by exploring dimensioning, measuring and architectural sustainability as they design affordable housing units using Autodesk’s® 3D architectural design software.

Design of a Solar Power Home

Windmills to Generate Energy

Flight and Space

The exciting world of aerospace comes alive through the Flight and Space. Students become engineers as they design, prototype and test models to learn about the science of flight and what it takes to travel and live in space. They solve real-world aviation and space challenges using Virtual Reality technology while exploring space: Past, Present and the Future.
