Student Services

WELCOME......

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Thibodaux High School, we would like to welcome all parents, grandparents, and other caregivers to a new and exciting school year. We look forward to working with each of you to help us meet the educational needs of all our students.

As the Professional School Counselors for THS, we would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the counseling services that will be offered to your child this school year. The mission of the THS Counseling Program is to partner with parents to prepare all students to be life-long learners and to achieve success in academic, personal/social, and career aspects of their lives as they grow to become contributing members of society. This is accomplished through delivery services such as classroom lessons, individual student planning, responsive services, and data-driven system supports.

Counselors are also available to meet with students and families by appointment to discuss personal issues. However, when a situation arises that is beyond the scope of school counseling, a referral to an outside licensed professional counselor may be requested and/or required. In the event that a student is recommended to seek outside counseling, we ask that parents take this recommendation seriously.

In most cases information or knowledge that is shared by the student with the counselor will remain confidential. However, there are certain circumstances where the counselor must break confidentiality in order to protect the student, other students or persons on campus. Counselors must report to school administration when a student reveals harm to self, substance abuse, pregnancy, harm to others, suicidal ideations, abuse, neglect, or anything else that the counselor deems necessary for the protection of the child. Additionally, counselors may be required to share confidential information if ordered to do so in the course of legal proceedings.

-The counseling services offered at THS will focus on these 3 domains: Academic, Career, and Personal/Social Development

-My child may receive counseling services by individual, small group, and/or whole class instruction throughout the school year and on an as needed basis.

-Appointments to meet with a counselor can be made by contacting Miss Rachael or Miss Erin at 985-447-4071.
