One of Satan's biggest tools in taking away our children's faith is forgetting. Satan wants our children to forget God's goodness. This way he can convince them, when they become young adults, that God is not real or does not exist.
In the Old Testament after he leading the Isrealites through the Jordan River, Joshua erected 12 stones as a way to remember God's goodness to them.
Joshua 4:7, "So these stones shall be to the people of Israel a memorial forever.”
Pastor Robert Madu says, "Don't forget to remember."
We have seen how social media sends us 'memories' to remind us things we have posted. How often does seeing this image pop up bring back memories of what that experience was and the feeling we had with it? Faith Journey provides this for those faith forming moments in our children's lives.
Faith Journey is a communication tool. Parents will receive an email from a child's contributors (Christian school teachers, Sunday School teachers, Youth Pastors), and this will prompt them to talk with their child on what they learned or experienced. These talks happen in the "in betweens of life," which can be sitting at the dinner table, driving to soccer games, or visiting with grandparents.
We did not come up the idea of Faith Journey. The Apostle Paul did. In 2 Thessalonians 2:15, Paul says,"So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed to you whether by word of mouth or by letter." In other words, Faith Journey captures these teaching or faith footprints from a child's parents and contributors and puts them into a format where students are able to look back and remember over time.
"The Psalmists declare over and over that remembering the Lord's faithfulness in the past has sustained them through many dark and challenging times. Living today as we do today in a culture of short-term memory, our children and teens need all the faith-memory aids they can get. The Faith Journey app provides just that: a rich, contemporary means to live out these ancient Psalms."
