Have a question about After-School Activities? Check below to see if it’s already answered. If not, email your questions to gemma.mio@mydiscoveryk8.org. We are happy to answer to your questions.
Are these activities part of the school curriculum?
No. After-school activities are extra-curricular and not part of Discovery's academic curricula or school day.
If my child did not attend session 1, can we register them for session 2? Any pre-requisites?
Most classes do not have a prerequisite unless it is stated on the vendor's website. Please check with the respective vendor if you have any concerns.
How will my child get to their activity? (Who is responsible for my child?)
Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring their children get to their after school activity.
After your student is dismissed from school, at 12:30, 12:45, or 3:05, depending on the bell schedule, the student's parent/guardian is responsible for ensuring their children get to the after-school activity. The Vendor is responsible for students from the scheduled start of the class until the students are dismissed. The parent/guardian is responsible for picking up the child at the class location at the end of class.
What should I do in case of an absence? Who should I inform?
Please inform the Parent Assistant (PA) of your class. Do not contact the school office or school attendance line.
What if I know I will be late for pickup?
Please inform the Parent Assistant (PA) of your class. Do not contact the school.
When and how will families be informed if a class is canceled?
If the Vendor must cancel the class due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. inclement weather, instructor is sick, etc.), parents will receive an email from the Vendor, Parent Assistant, or the After-School team, who will do their best to reschedule the class.
1. How much are the classes?
Fees vary by class. Please find information on fees and class details on the class flyer or Vendor's site.
2. Are there scholarships?
A Vendor may offer limited scholarships. Please inquire directly with the Vendor for details.
3. What forms of payment do you take?
Payments are made to the Vendor. Please read the Vendor's policies, terms and conditions, and contact the Vendor with any questions.
4. I would like to unenroll my child. Will I get a refund?
Each Vendor will have different policies for dropping a class and refunds. Please be sure to read their website or ask the Vendor directly.

If I become a PA, when will I received my refund?
You will received the refund at the end of the session.
Do I still get a full refund if I missed 1 or more classes?
Please check with the respective vendor for details.
What should I do if I am running late or can't come to the class?
Please inform the Vendor and After-School team.
Can I become Co-PA if there is another parent who can share the role and responsibility with me?

Do I still need to pay for tuition fees if I am the PA?
Yes, you must pay for the class even if you are the PA. You will receive your refund at the end of the session.
When will I know if I am the PA for the class that I sign up for?
You will receive an invitation for Parent Assistant Training.
