"A mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take." — Cardinal Mermillod
Mother's Day is a celebration of the purest and most selfless form of love we ever receive — a mother’s love. It is a day to honor the countless sacrifices our mothers make, the sleepless nights, the quiet worries, and the unwavering support they give, often pushing themselves beyond their limits just to provide us with everything they can. Their love is unconditional, enduring, and incomparable.
Last year, our school held the inauguration of our new library and also decided to have a meaningful celebration in honor of Mother’s Day. The event began with an inspiring speech from our principal, Mr. Tsai, Chun-Hsu who welcomed everyone and emphasized the importance of the day. He, then introduced me as the Foreign English Teacher (FET) of our school, and I had the wonderful opportunity to share a heartfelt story with the students and their families — "Love You Forever." This touching story reminded us of a mother’s enduring love from infancy through adulthood. During the storytelling, I taught the participants a song from it, and together we sang it whenever it's the part where the mother would rock her child to sleep; filling the room with warmth and emotion.
To show love, appreciation, and deepen the reflection on family, I showed a short video highlighting the importance of family bonds, followed by a presentation of pictures showcasing families in different forms — each unique, yet united by love.
What made the event truly special was the presence of both students and their parents. They had time to bond and create memories together. Each parent received a carnation flower — a symbol of love and admiration. Then, in a beautiful activity, the parents and children worked together to create a meaningful drawing. The students also wrote letters expressing their gratitude and love, which they proudly handed to their parents.
The event concluded with a photo opportunity where everyone could capture the memories of the day. Some students and parents approached me afterward, sharing their kind words and appreciation. It was heartwarming to hear how much the celebration meant to them.
Mother’s Day is more than a tradition — it is a powerful reminder to pause, appreciate, and honor the incredible women who shape our lives with love, strength, and endless care.
It was a privilege to be part of such a touching celebration that brought families closer and made lasting memories. It was indeed, a very special memory to keep.
Teaching is more than just delivering lessons - it is about creating meaningful experiences for students while learning.
This picture was taken right after my open class on December 20, 2024. I was observed by our CIEETRC Director, Ms. Zhang Caiqin, Ms. Lin Miaojuan, and some local English teachers from different schools here in Changhua County. It was truly a moment to remember for me. The preparations I made and the efforts I exerted were all aimed at making the observation worth everyone's time. After observing my class, they shared their insights on the methods I used, along with their comments and suggestions. I was truly happy to hear that they enjoyed my class. This opportunity to share what I know and give what I can to the students and local English teachers inspired me to do more and aim even higher.
