Welcoming new students
Mother's day
As a foreign teacher, I encouraged students to use English in writing heartfelt messages inside their colorful, box-style Mother’s Day cards. This activity not only celebrated the occasion creatively but also reinforced their English writing skills in a meaningful and personal context.
Earth day
1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Teach students to sort their trash: what goes in the recycling bin vs. garbage.
Encourage reusable containers and lunchboxes.
Make art from recycled materials as a fun classroom activity.
2.Save Energy
Remind students to turn off lights, fans, and electronics when not in use.
Create classroom "energy monitors" who check that things are turned off during breaks.
3. Save Water
Talk about turning off taps while brushing teeth.
Practice using only the water they need during handwashing or cleaning.
4. Plant a Tree or a Garden
Organize a planting activity in the school or at home.
Explain how plants help clean the air and provide oxygen.
5. Walk, Bike, or Carpool When Possible
Discuss the benefits of walking or biking instead of using cars when safe and possible.
For younger students, relate it to playing outside and getting fresh air.
6. Say No to Single-Use Plastics
Encourage the use of reusable water bottles, utensils, and bags.
Have a “plastic-free” lunch day or week challenge.
7. Pick Up Trash
Organize a clean-up day at school or nearby areas (with gloves and adult supervision).
Teach students to take care of their surroundings and not to litter.
8. Be Kind to Animals and Nature
Teach them to respect animals, trees, and living things.
Share stories or videos that show the importance of biodiversity and ecosystems.
9. Learn and Share
Read books, watch videos, or do simple experiments about the Earth.
Have students create Earth Day posters or write messages to the Earth to display in school.
10. Make a Promise
Let each student make one Earth Day Promise (e.g., “I will turn off the faucet,” “I will not waste paper,” etc.) and display them on a classroom Earth-themed bulletin board.
