The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in publicly funded programs and activities. ADA Title II requires that all digital content meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance guidelines by April 24, 2026. Digital content includes instructional materials, like websites, Canvas pages, PDFs, videos, documents, presentations, and other digital formats. Digital content must be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

CSUCI has long recognized the value of inclusive and accessible learning experiences for our community. ADA Title II requires compliance, but we can also consider curb-cutting benefits of inclusive design for those who:
work in noisy environments, or while multitasking
dealing with distressing or distracting news, large workloads, etc.
are not necessarily receiving accommodations for a disability
Broome Library, Information Technology Services, and Teaching & Learning Innovations have resources and services to support your efforts to practice inclusive and accessible design and to meet ADA Title II compliance. View the recommended resources by clicking the buttons below.
