During synchronous sessions, Zoom Breakout Rooms can allow you to facilitate deeper learning experiences for your students. Zoom has been regularly adding features to its platform, and here are some of the most useful as of this writing:
Pre-created Zoom Breakout Rooms: With this feature, you can set up Breakout Rooms in advance so that they are ready as soon as you need them. This does require linking people's email addresses in advance. More information on how to do this is available from Zoom here.
Creating and assigning participants to Breakout Rooms as needed: This is the most common method of using Breakout Rooms. During a meeting, the host can create a set of Breakout Rooms and assign participants randomly or manually. A set of Breakout Rooms can always be closed and recreated.
Participants choose their own Breakout Rooms: In this new feature, the host can create Breakout Rooms and then allow participants to choose their own. This can help facilitate Breakout Rooms more quickly and provide students the ability to choose an activity.
