Dress and Appearance
The BIS dress code is written to ensure that all students are dressed in a manner appropriate for the task of learning. The following are guidelines for the dress of all BIS students:
Student dress will not create a health or safety concern and/or disrupt the educational process.
Student dress will not provoke disturbance, mock, ridicule, demean, be drug/alcohol related, or be vulgar or obscene.
Hats, hoods, bandanas, pajamas, and slippers are not to be worn to school.
No article of clothing that is potentially dangerous, i.e. spiked jewelry or heavy chains shall be worn to school.
Staff members will immediately address the student if there is a violation of articles 1-4.
Dress should not include attire that reveals undergarments or midriff.
Shorts or skirts will be long enough so that the wearer is able to comfortably participate in all school activities.
If a staff member feels that a student’s dress is not in line with articles 5 and 6, the staff member will contact the grade level guidance counselor, who will then reach out to the parent/guardian of the student.
Multiple violations may result in disciplinary action. A change of clothing may be provided. The grade level administrator will reach out to the parent/guardian of the student.
