Barnstable Intermediate School (BIS) was recently awarded one of three Implementation Grants for school redesign through Mass IDEAS (Innovating Design in Education for All Students), an initiative of Next Generation Learning Challenges. (For more information click here)
This summer, BIS staff participated in workgroups to focus on redesign strategies to ensure equity for all learners at BIS. The strategies we focused on to make these changes revolve around two categories: Relationships and Rigorous, Relevant, Engaged Learning. In addition to the work done this summer, all staff at BIS will continue their learning through professional development opportunities offered throughout the school year.
Additionally, BIS is continuing its work on the discovery phase of Career Exploration. This work is being supported by a three year grant that was awarded to BIS last year from American Student Assistance.
