Description of Orchestras

Beginning Orchestra

No prior musical experience is needed to join Beginning Orchestra. Students will choose to learn violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Beginning Orchestra helps students develop their playing abilities, note reading skills, and instrumental techniques. It is highly recommended that students rent an instrument from our preferred vendor - Lisle Violin Shop. Beginning Orchestra is open to all middle school students. Please see the "Future Members" page for more information.

Sinfonia and Concert Orchestras

Sinfonia and Concert Orchestras require student auditions and previous experience in orchestra. Students will be placed into one of these ensembles by skill level. Sinfonia and Concert orchestra classes are designed to help students continue to develop their foundational techniques and musical literacy.

Chamber Orchestra

Chamber Orchestra is the top performing orchestra on campus and requires student auditions. This ensemble is designed for students who demonstrate a high proficiency in their instrumental, musical, and ensemble skills. Chamber Orchestra repertoire will challenge students to sharpen their listening abilities, playing techniques, and creative expression.
